The End of Summer:(

Well I believe the end of summer is upon us. It seems like yesterday that school was letting out and I was planning on doing a lot of different things over the summer. It was just too darn short! We have the babies room completed, nobody told us how much stuff we were going to have to buy for this. We have started our birthing classes at Avera, the first class was pretty boring, just an introduction of sorts, we'll see what tonight brings.

I start marching band Monday morning. I am excited to start working with the kids again, but sad because it signals the end of the summer for me. This year should be a pretty good one for the band, we have a great group of kids and a wonderful show to put on the field. Really I am not that concerned with how we place, I am more concerned that we work hard and improve. I have never been this happy with a job, the stress is a lot less than in other positions and the students are wonderful.

Really that is all I have for now, it is raining here right now and is gloomy:( Haven't heard from family in almost two weeks now, at least we have a ton of friends in the area and am able to hang out with them and talk to them a lot.

Comments

I have been asked by numerous people lately how to leave a comment on our blog. It's actually quite simple. At the bottom of this entry you will see a toolbar that will say when I posted this and on the right it will say comments--click on the comments and it will take you to another screen. on that screen type your comment on the right, do the word verification and then you will either be able to use your hotmail account information if you have one or set up an account with google by clicking on the sign up here spot underneath the sign in area. If you don't want to set up a google account you can just click on the anonymous button and leave a comment, if you do that we would love it if you would at least leave your name so we know who left the comment and has been to our blog. Make sense? I hope so. We would love to see some comments up here. We really wonder if anybody reads this at all. Every so often someone will leave a comment or tell us they read it so that is nice to hear.

Kosmo Countdown

The Babies Room

Well it has been a very busy few days for us. We went to the cities for the baby shower which was very nice. It was great to spend time with Carl and Erin whom we haven't seen in about a year. We went out to eat at one of my favorite places-PF Changs, I had some Shiner Bock (best beer ever and MSP is the closest place to SF that sells it). After the shower we spent a little bit of time with Chelsea's brother Justin, it was great to see him again, then we went to the mall briefly and then headed back home. Chels and I both want to thank everyone for the shower and for all the wonderful cards and gifts that we received.

Sunday we went out to brunch with the Kessler's! The new Spezia opened so we had to go there, wonderful food as always. After brunch we had some shopping to do for the baby. Went have been trying to find the perfect crib and dresser/changing table that isn't going to cost us a small fortune. After spending 3 hours looking at crib after crib after crib, we finally came to a decision and bought the crib and dresser combo. This is a huge thing for us and are both glad we finally made a decision. So Sunday night was spent putting together the high chair, which Justin bought us, and deciding on how we were going to situate things in the babies room.

Monday Chels had to work, I had drum line in the morning, but was home by 11. I then spent then next few hours cleaning out the extra room which is now the babies room. It was a mess only because we were lazy and just didn't put things away right when we moved in. Once that was done I went out and bought the curtains for the room and waited for Chels to get home to help with the crib. After we ate we put the crib together and got the room more situated the way we want it.

Today we had another appointment for the baby and all is good. We are going every two weeks now. After that I went out to purchase a small bookcase for the babies room, came home and put that together. Now I only need to get the dresser together and everything will be done for the baby.

Attached are some photos of the babies room and all that good stuff.

The big family vacation

OK, so it really isn't that much of a vacation, but we are leaving town for 24 hours or so and heading up the Minneapolis! This time we're both going! With everything going on this summer and trying to save up as much time off as possible for when Kosmo comes, we haven't taken any vacation and really don't plan to.

Although we haven't gone anywhere, we have been busy with friends. We are both very thankful to have such great friends that live here in Sioux Falls or very close by. Chels loves hanging out with the ladies and occasionally with us guys too!

We'll update things once we get back from the baby shower Saturday night......of course you should know me by now and understand that it won't get updated until next week. Sorry folks, that's just me!

Week 25

Well tomorrow is the start of week 25. Chelsea and Kosmo are progressing quite good. It is getting more and more real every day now for me, I think for Chels it was real they day she found out. Kosmo is a very active little one, he moves around a lot and enjoys kicking and pushing up against mom's bladder!:) I have had the joy of feeling him kick, that is when it became very real for me. It is such and amazing thing to feel something that is part of you.

I know I said I would update more during the summer, but it really has been very busy for me and I haven't had the time I thought I would, so I'll update you on everything all at once. On July 1st I went to Minneapolis with Kevin and Brian to the Twins vs. Tigers game. We made a one day trip out of it. Kevin came up with the idea of getting the all you can eat tickets for the game.......What a great idea!! It only added $12 to you ticket price and we ate a ton of food...I ate over $50 worth of stadium food so it was worth it! Making it a one day trip may not have been our best idea as I got home around 4:30 AM and had to be up at 7 the next morning! Needless to say I ended up getting sick, whether it was from lack of rest or the fact that Brian needed the air on freezing the whole trip is still the true question.....Kevin and I decided it is best to blame it on Brian. I had symphony for the 4th which was fun as always. Both Aaron and Ashley played the concert to it was fun to play in an ensemble with them again, it had been around 8 years since we were at OU together in the Percussion Orchestra. Chels went to the concert with Danny and his family, she also got to see Olivia (Aaron and Ashley's daughter) which always puts a smile on her face, she is such a beautiful kid and is really growing up quick. On Saturday the 5th, Chels had a bachelorette party and I had Uken, Jensen and Danny over for grilling, beer and some wii golfing.......You know MANLY things!!!! It was fun having them over, but I ended up wussing out and not going out with them due to me being sick. Smart move on my part. I was running a horrible fever and when Chels got home she was a little worried about me. Of course being a man I didn't think it was that bad so I didn't go to the ER, I let it run it's course. I woke up around 4 AM with my side of the bed totally drenched with sweat, you could even see the outline of where my legs were in the bed. Looking back, maybe Chels was right.....but we won't ever agree to that!:) I can't ever recall having a fever that bad, I never took my temp so I don't know how bad it really was, just know I should have gone to a Dr. Anyhow, I am now feeling a lot better but still have some sinus issues.

Also over the holiday weekend we began the search for a new car. Timmy the mighty Taurus has seen better days. It had 157,000 miles on it and was beginning to cost us more money than we wanted to put into it. Also it didn't get great gas mileage and with driving it to Lennox everyday it made sense to get something that had better gas mileage and was more dependable. So after spending days on the computer looking at cars online, I went in yesterday to look at a nice Saturn Ion.....As I was looking around the lot I also found a better car........a 2007 Hyundai Sonata with only 4,500 (yes 4,500 not 45,000) miles on it! The problem for us though----IT IS A MANUAL and Chels doesn't know how to drive one! Kevin and Heidi have a Sonata and they love it, we have also ridden in it and loved it too so I knew this would be a car we would be very very happy with. So I decided to take it on a drive and I was right........Way better than the Saturn, but of course a bit more money. After looking at all the options we decided that the Hyundai would be the better route, so we are now the owners of White 2007 Hyundai Sonata. We love the car and I love the gas mileage. I'm going to save a lot on gas money....the Taurus got 20 mpg and the Sonata gets around 34 mpg.

Other news, the stroller did arrive last week......I will hopefully post some pictures this week, Chels is very excited about it. We have a trip to MSP planned for the 18-19th for the baby shower that is taking place up there that weekend. I am busy planning things for the fall marching band show, it is going to be a great show and should be a good season. I am anxious to get started with marching band again. The baby is growing nicely and Chels thinks he'll come early..........not a great thing when it runs right into the middle of marching band season, but family is always more important than marching band and the birth of my child is most important.

I'm sure there is more that I have forgotten so I will have to update that when it pops into my small mind! Later y'all!!!
