A Long but Great Saturday

Well it was a very very long Saturday for us all. I had three big performances in the day. First we did the parade in Luverne at the Tri-State Band Festival, followed by the field competition there and finishing out the day with an evening performance at the Big Sioux Review in Brandon. My band once again did a great job. In Luverne they placed 3rd in parade (same place as 2007) and 2nd in field (up from 4th last year!). This was great for our first competition of the season. In the evening we traveled to Brandon and the band performed a wonderful show, placing 1st and taking Best Winds, Best Guard, Best Drum Majors and Best Drum Line!! This is the first time that Lennox has taken 1st place and swept all the caption awards! Great job band!

Chels actually spent the day with Heidi in Luverne and Brandon at the competition. She just couldn't stay away from marching band this fall, she has really come to love it. Thankfully she didn't have to sit at both competitions all day and do all the walking that I had to do. She did get to see the band which made her happy. At the end of the day she was just beat and swollen, this may be the last competition she makes it to depending on when Kosmo makes his appearance.

We both were able to see some of our friends from Madison at both competitions. It was great to see them all and chat with them for a little bit. It was also fun for me to see so many of my former students and get the chance to talk to them as well.

This week doesn't get any easier for me, it is homecoming week so we have a lot of stuff going on at school. It is also Festival of Bands week so we'll be off competing again next weekend. Hopefully the weather is great and the baby doesn't come at a time when I can't get away.

Marching band has started

Well today was the first competition for my marching band. A great start to the season for us. We went to the metropolis of Menno and competed in their parade they have hosted for two years now. Last year we took 2nd behind Parkston and this year..........we took 1st! Finally beating Parkston. My band was so excited, hopefully it will carry over to the rest of the weekend and we perform up to our ability.

On the baby watch, nothing new. Chelsea is still ready for Kosmo to join us. Maybe she is just tired of hanging out with me and would rather have some stimulating conversation for a change. Personally I think she just wants somebody that isn't so tired at the end of a day to go on a walk with her. Either way, I don't care, I just want Kosmo to pop out and make a grand entrance into this world! We'll keep you posted.

And the Baby is Coming On............................

I'll bet you're all wondering when the baby is coming, so here is the answer.................................................................I WISH I KNEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chels is dilated a bit more and is thinning (whatever that is, I probably don't want to know or I should have listened in our birthing class!). The Dr. won't induce until 39 weeks, but we don't think she'll last that long. At least we hope it won't take that long. That's all for now, we'll keep you updated.

Big Boy!!

Well we just found out we are having a giant of a baby! He is already 7 pounds and we are still a month out from the due date. The Dr. said he could grow a pound a week! We setup another ultra sound appointment for 3 weeks, but hopefully he has arrived by then. Tomorrow Chels goes to see the Dr. and will ask about inducing and all that fun stuff. We'll keep you posted.

Here We Go

Well the busy time of the year is upon us and the big changes to our lives is here as well. First marching band has started and I am so excited for my band. Last night we marched our first halftime of the season and it was simply amazing. I know that it was the best this marching band has ever looked this early in the season. We looked and sounded as good as we did at the end of last season and that had been the best season ever in school history. This year is going to be a great one and it all goes to the kids. I really have the best students around. Yes every band director says that and yes we all do mean it. I absolutely love working in Lennox with these wonderful kids. We have this Saturday off but then start our competitive season next week with a parade in Menno on Friday and on Saturday we go to Luverne and to Brandon where we should do quite well. The remainder of the season will take us to Sioux Falls, Orange City and we finish in Vermillion. If you get the chance you should come out and see us at one of these competitions.

The other great change of course is with Baby Kosmo!!! Man he is getting big and I am getting impatient. I know what your all saying, Bob is getting impatient-that's something new! And I respond with--I Know I am always such a patient guy I don't know what is happening to me! CRAZY!!!

Here is what has been going on with the baby. Chels had an appointment this week and she is measuring 40 weeks but she is only 35 weeks along! So they have scheduled another ultrasound to check things out. They assume it is extra fluid, but it could be an extra large baby. (That is there nice way of saying he could be fat like daddy!). So we are going in on Tuesday morning to find out. Chels is really starting to get uncomfortable and is ready to meet this little guy. I can't wait to meet him. This whole process has really changed my views on things for the better, I have really grown the past 8 months and I know there is only more growing to come. Every day I look at Chels and realize how lucky I am to have married such a great woman, she is going to be a wonderful mother.

We are almost ready for the baby to arrive, we still have to get a bassinet but we can't find one that is cheap enough that we like. The ones we like are of course the most expensive ones out there, go figure! We also need to get some diapers and that may be about it. I am sure there is something else we need, but we haven't been parents before so we have no idea. Heck, I haven't even changed a diaper before! I'll bet that is going to change in the next month or so. As you can see from the pictures, we also have found some OU clothes for Kosmo! We found it all on one auction on Ebay and am so happy with it. It just arrived yesterday and we are even more excited for our son now. We now have an OU outfit to take him home from the hospital in. This boy is going to grow up being a Sooner fan!!! The first picture is what he's coming home in.

Other than that life is pretty normal! Ha, like anything is normal during a pregnancy! We'll keep you all posted. Keep your eyes on the blog as it will be updated with pictures as soon as I can get them up from the hospital. They have wireless so I will update the site as much as possible and I'll post some on facebook as well.

The end is in sight

Well today Chelsea had another appointment. Some exciting and scary things are going on. First the exciting news. She is beginning to dialate and is currently at a 1. When she first told me this I was thinking alright here we go! Then she tells me that she could be this way for weeks:( So the waiting still goes on. The scary news is that she is swelling and there is a slight possibility that they put her on bedrest, which we can't afford to happen. So now she is sitting around with her feet up all the time and I get to do all the fun things around the house!

Things other than that have been good. Busy with school and preparing for the baby to arrive. I really can't wait for Kosmo to get here. I am so excited to become a father. Well off to do laundry so talk to you all later.
